Experimental Study on Reservoir Physical Properties and Formation Blockage Risk in Geothermal Water Reinjection in Xining Basin: Taking Well DR2018 as an Example

The Xining Basin in Qinghai Province, China, is rich mid–low temperature geothermal resources, but the reinjection of water has not yet started. In this paper, physical properties rocks sampled from newly drilled well DR2018 were analyzed, and a series core flooding experiments was conducted to assess formation blockage risk during reinjection. experimental results show that reservoir low porosity 1.64–18.68% permeability 0.04–7.23 md. are weakly consolidated, movable clay sand particles account for 0.18–23.42 wt %, which significant rate salinity sensitivity. Even at flow velocity 0.31–1.64 cm/min, will drop by 35–53% after 25-144PV injection. An obvious fluctuation decline can also be observed as injected decreases. induced invasion low-content scaling suspended covered up migration cores. particle near-wellbore main reason cause well’s capacity.
